Friday night, Tim and I met up in Havre De Grace, MD (halfway between our homes) for dinner and a change of scenery. We each had our own thing going on the next morning so in order to spend some time together, dinner at a new place was in order. We decided on Laurrapin Grille in downtown Havre de Grace. Their website’s catchphrase is “Think Local, Buy Local, Live Local” and we were excited to eat some locally grown and fed foods!
While I was waiting for Tim to arrive, I ordered an apple infused bourbon old fashioned. Yum!
We started out with the hand cut french fries served with jalapeno ketchup. The ketchup made the meal!
For dinner, Tim ordered a “make your own” pizza of bacon, pepperoni, and mozzarella. For a Maryland pizza, it was pretty good. I was feeling fancy and ordered the Lamb Osso Bucco served with mashed potatoes and veggies.
When our waiter handed us the dessert menu, we knew we had to try their “Famous Baked Banana” of a fresh ripe banana rolled in chocolate chips, brown sugar and cinnamon, baked in a flaky phyllo dough and served with Vanilla Ice cream. OMG. Without the melted, oooey, gooey, chocolate, this dessert would have been eh. With the chocolate? MIND BLOWN.
Saturday, Tim and I went over to his parents for a cookout. A crab cookout. Crabs and beer (and football), THAT’S WHAT MARYLAND DOES.
We ordered a bushel of crabs and Tim’s mom made corn on the cob, burgers, hot dogs, and baked beans. I, of course, brought CUPCAKES! And we washed it all down with Summer Shandy. Yum!!
